E. Reynaud
La Pialade de Rayas Côtes du Rhône Red Rhône Blend
Love these wines! So allocated it's been a long time since I've had the Pialade from Emmanuel Reynaud and the Rayas estate! There can be lots of bottle variation but this was a good one.

Aug 24th, 2024Very light and cloudy. Totally has rayas funk. Starts off very secondary with notes of artichoke, green tobacco, nutmeg and cardamom, then shows some brilliant bright fruit (cranberry, cherry, and grapefruit rind). Elegant and feminine. Truly Grenache. Give it time in the glass and realize a kaleidoscope.

Jun 27th, 2020The nose of Reynaud wines. Great intensity and depth. Blood orange and spice. Palate was full with notes of cherry and beef blood. Acid was a little low. Needs a few more years to shed some baby fat.

Feb 2nd, 2019A core of sweet fruit wrapped in spices and carried on a foundation of earth. Shockingly delicate, silken, perfectly balanced. Beautifully evolved and drinking 💪.

Aug 25th, 2018A great find on the wine list for $65. Still plenty of life, but tannins have receded enough to allow the secondary and tertiary Murphy aromas to come through along with a solid base and gorgeous red fruit.

Apr 1st, 2017Absolutely smoking tonight. Impossible complexity, and that's not just for a Cotes du Rhone. Savory and sweet simultaneously with ringing acidity and a gentle flow. Went beautifully alongside swordfish and blood oranges.
