Duke's
Reserve Magpie Hill Riesling
Water white in colour. Aromas of Lime Juice, Citrus Peel, Talc and Minerals. On the palate a riot of Lime Juice and Citric Acid of profound intensity finishing bone dry. I can see why James Halliday gave this Riesling 98 points and his Australian Riesling of 2019 because of its sheer purity, power and intensity and its ability to live for 20 years and to keep developing. Sold Out everywhere except for 4 x 6 packs at the Cellar Door of which I bought a 6 pack. Classic Porongorup Riesling. Made for Dukes by Rob Diletti of Castle Rock Estate who I had the pleasure of meeting 2 days ago at his winery for a tasting.

Dec 26th, 2019Tis the season to indulge in chilled sparkling red my friends! The perfect accompaniment to Christmas ham or turkey and it comes dressed for the occasion with the deep red foamy bubbles on top!
A big thanks to Duke's for sending this bottle of their 2012 Sparkling Shiraz over. It went down a treat with gingerbread cookies and the Christmassy movie Home Alone!
On the eye it's an opaque garnet red with wonderful red streaming bubbles. The nose is full of black plums and currants with a hint of cherries and dusting of baking spice. The palate is dry, smooth and almost creamy in the mouth with dark fruit flavours and a sprinkling of black pepper. It's savoury elegance in a bottle! RRP $30
Available at select locations around Perth (including the new Cork & Bottle in Bassendean) and online via www.dukesvineyard.com

(Rather odd that people seem to be posting reviews for different Duke’s wines under this listing. This is definitely not a sparkling wine.) Bristling, bright acid and a lingering citrus line. Vibrant and intense.

Dec 25th, 2018This is actually a really interesting wine, it's a supplier sample and I dare say we will be selling this very soon.
It's the 2013 Duke's Magpie Hill Reserve Sparkling Riesling, yes, Riesling. The nose is an initial burnt toast with a clear secondary of Maple Syrup, whaaat? The palate is acidic and very citrusy so it doesn't follow the nose, but I really like it. The finish is short, sharp and acidic, this would go so well as a refreshing finish to a Friday! 😜
