Our New Year’s Eve wine is 2005 Kapcsandy Family Winery Estate Cuvée State Lane Vineyard. Still too early to open this? After four hours, the wine finally showed us who she was. Elegant, yet still restrained. We also opened 1996 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot. Still drinkable. You can still enjoy the history. Bye bye 2025.

1997 cal cab tasting (with one merlot snuck in there). Proved to me critics not always correct. Heralded vintage on release but has not aged well. 10 wines, none memorable.

From magnum, opened for my dad’s 70th birthday celebration. Drinking very well for a 17 year old merlot. Mature fruit, a little leather, dusty tannins. Nice stuff.
