Cherries, wild raspberries and a hint of strawberries with some smokiness and wet rock. Smooth tannins due to the age. Good body with a medium long finish. This could easily be mistaken for a great red Bourgogne.

Jul 22nd, 2017It's odd some of my favorite wines started out as something of which i was not very fond. This is no exception. When if first opened it i did not get much out of it. However a day or two later it was amazing. It had elements of bell pepper and cured meat with a finish of smoked or dried chilies. More full bodied.

Peppery and blackcurrenty. Maybe it's the Sicilian Meat Balls with cheese in tomato sauce, maybe it's the spicy rigatoni with fennel but this wine goes down a treat. I'm glad to see this nerello mascalese grape showing up in shops more and more. It's one to search for when I'm back home!
