Jul 29th, 2021Fresh white peaches with some slatey minerality. A sweet palate with only 8% ABV and residual sugar. These Kabinetts are always refreshing but to be honest they don’t change much or gain complexity with cellaring IMO. I made a similar comment 84 weeks ago with a 2007 Bernkastler Lay Riesling from Dr Loosen. Tasted another bottle in September 2022 with consistent notes. I don’t believe these Kabinetts change much with age. Delicious years ago and still delicious.

Oct 19th, 2020Some petrochemical notes creeping in amongst the white florals. On the palate still quite lively with good acidity enough to prevent the sweetness (8% ABV) becoming too cloying. A simple yet refreshing Kabinett. As I have said in previous notes I don’t believe there is much to be gained in added complexity by cellaring Kabinett Riesling.

Aug 28th, 2019More an experiment to see if there is anything to be gained by cellaring German Kabinett Rieslings and the short answer is No. The bottom line is there is not much added complexity. Still as delicious as it was when young. This wine had a faint Light Machine Oil aroma like Sewing Machine oil which was not off putting - just added interest. I did a similar exercise with Guigal Cotes du Rhône opening one at 10 years of age. The wine will last the distance but no real gain in flavour profile. Millions of bottles of CdR made and best drunk young.

Mar 7th, 2019This is as close to a house wine as we get here at Chez Corison Martin.

Palate moves away from floral, and into ripe fruits, petrol, and honey. The acid is lean and precise, and overall has a lighter body and is a more focused wine then the Erdener Treppchen. Love it!
