Lean with great finish.
Pale straw color in the glass.
Nose has fresh lime pith, warmed peach, peppermint candy, recently crushed slate, tart green apple peel, (light) petrol and citrus blossom.
Palate has crushed limestone, slate powder, orange pith, under-ripe peach, warmed green apple and slight pineapple core. Quite dry on the finish, runs a full minute plus, fun salty traits. Decanted +60m.
Likely a long life for this bottle, easily held in proper storage until 2030+.
Purchased at the winery in Nov. 2016, $27.
Winery Note:
This Riesling is made with grapes grown in “block 3”, the oldest (1968 plantings), steepest and most shale-laden section of the winery’s estate vineyard on Keuka Lake.
Day 4 Update: Nose has dried lemon peel, cut peach and dried pineapple, sweetened. Palate has fresh cut orange, fresh pineapple and a mild chalky finish. Fun evolution.

Mar 20th, 2022Might be too tart and minerally for some, least at this young point in its development, but not me. Line, peach, and petrol still come through. I’ll be interested to see how this ages.
