Double Diamond (Schrader)
Mayacamas Range Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

I have only tried the 2004 Double Diamond Mayacamas Range, and it was quite incredible, with that said I had high expectations for this wine. Double Diamond is the second label of Schrader Cellars and made by Thomas River Brown whom I would love to try out more of his wines! The color was a garnet red, closer to brick and extremely cloudy. I don't know if this was flawed or not. In the nose it was just brandy and prunes. On the palate it was just moderate to light tannins with a light body. Maybe age has taken its toll but not sure due to the cloudiness. Maybe better luck next time.

Santa tried to drink this to but I out foxed him! Remember to lock your cellar! Santa drinks! Very fruit forward, chewy and earthy. In a blind tasting i would have guessed Walla Walla.

Dark red. Smooth and earthy at same time. Unusual combination imho. Almost no tannins left. Dark fruit. Good balance. Some musty flavors. Long finish.. 2002. Drink now. I don’t think much will be left in 5 years .
