Dopff au Moulin
Alsace AOC Gewürztraminer
During the week we decided to check out the Sale Curry House which is a BYO spot. One of my typical Indian cuisine matches is Gewürtztraminer. I try pick one which is not too sweet, this one was a 4/10 on the dry-sweet scale on the back label. You’ll find most Gewürtz (and sometimes Rieslings too) will have a sweetness scale on the back label.
This 2012 @dopffaumoulin Gewürtz comes from the Alsace region in France and I picked it up for about $18. I have to admit it went pretty well with the onion bhaji, samosas and curry we had.
In the glass it’s a pale lemon colour. A perfume full of sweet florals/canided flowers and hints of mango/lychee come through on the nose. While in the mouth it’s off dry with spiced pear, lemon and a hint of rose water coming through. It matched the spice of our Indian cuisine well 🍛🥂
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine #tctastingnotes

Off-dry with fragrant ripe pear and subtle florals.

May 21st, 2018My first Gewurztraminer! Really interesting wine, each sip starts with fruit & spice but finishes clean & dry. Enjoyed it, although I believe it’s drier than a typical Gewurztraminer.

Oct 22nd, 2017(16.5/20) Аромат личи, флёр д'оранжа, лимонного мармелада и ванили. Немного остаточного сахара хорошо сбалансированного кислотностью. Приятное и свежее вино.

Jun 29th, 2017Smell really jumps out at you in an explosion of fruit and flowers. Taste is much more refined with complex subtleties. A bit spicy, quite smooth. Taste swells from first sip reaching a pleasant apex before fading away with a soft finish. 2010 vintage
