La Dama Old Vines Garnacha

Pre-Labor Day festivities with friends.

Chalky cherry, leather, roses, dried orange peel, dry clay, light anise notes, black cherry.

2010. Massive fruit without heaviness. Superb finish. I personally tend to prefer the sinewy fruit of El Terroir over this cuvee but there is a lot to like here.

The richness of dark berry fruit here is incredibly pronounced and rich, massive but suave with new saddle leather, cherry, kirsch, juniper, Danson , liquorice and an enveloping granite mineral core.
In the mouth this is still very tight but has a really beautiful acidity, powerful red and black fruit and a buffered tannic structure and very long black fruited finish.

Corked? Perhaps, or asleep. Just dead and flavorless.

Very tasty Grenache! Served cool.

From vines averaging over 75 years, this has a nervy nose of plum, tart cherry, balsamic, mineral, and herbal medicine. Palate is broad and refreshing, having a more elegant and harmonious feel. Quite an experience.
