Cabernet (primarily)/Merlot left bank blend. Medium ruby color with some brown highlights. Aromas of black berry, rose petals, dried herbs and cigar box. More tertiary on the palate with flavors of black licorice, tobacco with some dark berry fruit in the background. Smoky/Spicy note on the medium finish. Smooth tannins and reasonable acidity. Tough to love this one, it’s pretty austere. The nose is deceptively bright with nice balance and dark fruit and earthy tones. The palate is disappointing though, flat and lacking any real fruit or depth of flavour. Finishes with a metallic tang that does not improve with air.
