Domaine Vincent Paris
Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
Very much on the dark, earthy, minerally side. So dark and full of smoky ember crushed stone that I’d almost be tempted to place it half-way around the world in Walla Walla. Palate is rich and dark, a highlights more savory minerally notes than fruit. Distinctive and good but not a typical fruity Crozes.

Jan 22nd, 2022Solid Crozes. Took some air to come around. Nose then shows crushed dark stone infused earth, sweet dark berry juice, spiced bison jerky. Mouthfilling and soft. Deep fruit at first, then goes to the more savory side. Fruit is sweet and a bit simple, and there’s a little lack of concentration. But it’s cheap, solid, and fun.

Feb 21st, 2021(My daughter’s dog Lena (short for Valtellina) photo-bombed the picture, even though she’s unrelated to this grape.) Feral nose has lots of iron, smoky earth, and funkified meat. Flavorful, medium-full, and relatively complex in the mouth. Mostly on the savory and earthy side, with lots of smoky gravel and only an undercurrent of fruit. Nice!

May 3rd, 2020Fresh-no sugar- blueberry pie of a nose.
Well crafted, heavier bodied wine, unified berry blend, blue and black fruits working together in unison, a harmonic balance. Iodine and gravel carried this wine to the inevitable end - of high acid and new barrel like tannins.
Absolutely Lovely. A bit young, sometimes I cannot help myself.

Mar 3rd, 2019Nose of iodine, cured meats, and dark fruits. Heavy in the kirsch flavors, lean tannins. Medium-plus body. Still a very well crafted wine. 2016 was good for this wine and I’ll enjoy seeing how it changes over the years as I pull bottles out of the cellar.

Nov 26th, 2018New school frame of mind.
The nose had me thrown from the first option.
Decent tannin, tight colour and slightly meaty.

A little reductive at first but after ten minutes revealed a Fresh aromatic nose of plums and minerality. No pepper and very primary at this stage. Promising.
