It had hints of liquorice too
It can get better IMO

Had it November 2008.
Beautiful fruit, great flesh. Cola, chinotto, iron. Liquorice, incense, hints of face powder(Barolo like), marine notes. Tobacco, aromatic herbs, spices, little curry even and cloves. Very long and it could have age a long time still.

Flat, no fruit. Dead on palate. Cardboard taste

Umami and preserved cherries. Something ancient, dusty yet fresh as could be. Very dynamic and evocative. Unbelievably vital, balanced and complex. A benchmark.

1985 - looking fresher than the 97 but not an amazing bottle. Developed colour and more gamey sweetness.
