Another beautiful vintage from Sigalas. The "two A's" as it is commonly known, is a unique cuvee that in some ways might be even more appealing than the pricier flagship Assyrtiko bottling. It is decidely softer, gentler and less intense than the 100% Assyrtiko doesn't require bottle age, but with all the typical attributes found in classic Santorini wine. The volcanic terroir, minerality, salinity and high-toned citrus fruit are all there but the Athiri does add another dimension to the palate that I can only describe as "green/herbal"- but in a way that Sauvignon Blanc is not. Riesling fans will still delight in this bottling despite preferring the more full-throttle acidity of the other label. The alcohol is a bit high, but stick to traditional and safe food pairing (shellfish, light sauces) and you won't go wrong. My tip is to drink the "Two A's" young while you hold your Assyrtiko for at least an additional year. Superb value, one of the best seafood wines on the planet for the price.

My son brought this back for us and opening it with them tonight to celebrate the end of 2016. Nice bright wine, with very balanced flavors and aromas. Nice work to the folks who made this wine!
