We tasted nine Gigondas, 2003-2010, from Domaine Saint-Damien, Domaine Santa Duc and Chateau de Saint Cosme, considered by many to be the top three domaines.  This was our #3, and my #1

Vintage 2015

At 10 years of age this is still an infant. Very dark color intense peppery nose, lush round rich mouthful of mushrooms and forest flavors. Needs time.

Needs 3 more years.

Good and rich but tending towards dense. The heat was also too pronounced for my tastes.

Full throttle, cherry preserve, lavender, Orange peel, smoke and melted chocolate, this is a big boy...
Power over balance. 2010 vintage.

If Barolo and Amarone had a baby... Goes well with chili.

Complex, savory, fruit, with great texture structure and vibrancy at 16 yrs - at 15%
