Domaine Santa Duc
Les Aubes Vacqueyras Grenache Blend
Catching up on some delayed bottle posts...no notes. (No tannins... delicious!)
Requested to drive up to my good buddies house to help him move his 8ft sheet metal brake to fashion some temporary gutters in advance of hurricane Henri, I was rewarded with wine, of course!

Bright violet. A complex, highly perfumed bouquet evokes succulent red and blue fruits, exotic spices and candied flowers. Palate-staining, intense raspberry, boysenberry and spicecake flavors take a sweet turn on the back half. Finishes extremely long and spicy, with repeating florality and steadily building but deftly interwoven tannins. Aged in foudres and clay amphoras. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2020)

Really loved this. On the nose it was horse blanket, crushed brambles, the smell of hot asphalt after a fresh rain and stewed beef. Brambles and baking spices on the palate. Awesome with lamb shank and saffron rice.

May 3rd, 2016Nice wine with pleasing tannins. It was softer than I expected at this stage of its maturity. Raisin and stewed plums with pleasing tannins. Could have used a bit more acidity.
