Pure pleasure, vivacious, juicy, deeply textured and ripe. A completely different experience than LBT

Great vintage of Sainte Epine. Black licorice, violets, peppercorn. Pure and elegant style.

Firing on day 1 and a mousy mess by day 3. Found the extraction and balance quite interesting considering vintage and winemaking technique. A sunnier expression but true to form for Hervé. Perhaps the elevation of St. Epine escaped some of the warmth?

Emotional roller coaster, this. Phenomenal showing out of the gate with an alluring bouquet of violets, cracked pepper, wild raspberries and game, lively on the palate with dark berries and a pleasant almost effervescent tingle. Unfortunately after about an hour of air a pronounced yeastiness took over almost completely. Not sure if that is typical but a rather pricey disappointment

2005 - more Cru Beaujolais than Syrah, but showing far younger than its vintage.

Not sure if it was just because of the vintage, but this wine underwhelmed and was quite funky.

After maybe an hour the wine opened up graciously! Tasted more like a serious vintage beauj!
