Les Champs-Gains Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay

This wine was holding up well but did not have the depth and complexity I was hoping for.

I thought this was a delicious white. It was recommended to us by the owner of Les Tables De Philippe in Chamonix with our main course. It had an oak after taste that had a bit of a charred flavor. It was complex and very enjoyable! I’d buy a case at some point.

Apple, toffee, brown sugar, oak, and vanilla. Acidity on the lower end making it not quite balanced. Good for sipping. Certainly could age, but unclear how it would change with age. 2017 in 2021.

Rare treat. Proper wine-talking beautifully to Sea Bass with fennel.
