I used to love tasting wines like this. I was fascinated with natural wines from all over the world and especially from regions like Burgundy. I find myself more unimpressed with the set of aromatics, textures and flavors which I get more and more frequently in “natural” wines. I’m not against natural wine, I’ve had so many which are ethereal. I’m for wines which are enjoyable to consume, and this was more of a task. It was sold to us even though we asked thorough questions to make sure it was not what it turned out to be. It is absolutely a 2015 Blanc Vin de France, with maybe a touch more than zero reference to region/site, vintage or varietal character. It seems like the winemaking is very front and center, in a backwards way. It was quite gassy, darkly colored, with aromatics and flavors which were fuzzy, sharp, oxidative and arguably quite mousey.

What a surprise, this wine occupies that netherworld between wine and beer, orange and rustic, refreshing, complex, very alive, and fuuunky

Weird wine. Skin fermented Chardonnay but done well/clean. On its own is for me iffy but pretty tasty with food.
