First vintage of Ponsot Montrachet and first bottle opened in the U.S! Tasted on 2.1.13. Bottle with extra security 'Domaine Ponsot' imprint on bottom of the bottle, synthetic cork with name, tracking number and heat exposure tab. Serious about anti counterfeit! Wine had power, & soft honey glow. Hope to taste again in 20 more years but only 388 bottles made.

The ’11 Montrachet, available only in Ponsot’s Cru case, showed a beautifully vibrant and rich nose with floral perfumes up front leading to exotic spice, roasted nuts, expressive ripe stone fruits and minerals. On the palate, it was firm and youthful with notes of young peach and rich almond paste, yet remained compact with mounting energy, suggesting that the best is yet to come. Inner floral tones, roasted nuts, and notes of pastry dough lingered long on the finish. The potential in the glass was amazing!
