Domaine Ponsot
Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Pinot Noir
Morey St. Denis, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

Delicate roses and red cherry. Soft with signs of age. A hint of orange peel. Freshness too though. Very pretty-good lift

Jan 17th, 2015The wine is still very clean, color is ruby with no rim discoloration. The nose is on red fruit, cola and wet forest musk...in the mouth the taste is very balanced, alcohol is medium, nice acidity and the attack is on small red fruits. The middle of the mouth brings nice acidity and the finally is beginning to show secondary and tertiary tastes. Some mushroom, truffles and wild herbs. The length is very long. Not the best CdlR from Ponsot that i had but for a 2000 he hit it out of the park

May 10th, 2020the nose took a bit to open ... ripe fruits, tea leaves, spices and undergrowth. On the palate the attack is fruity a little sweet, mid-palate on spices and a long enough finish. The acidity could have been a little stronger, but the concentration replaces this lack I think. Mid body structure. After 1 hour the wine built up more tannins structure a true chameleon. Ever changing in the glass....what an experience!

2000 Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Burgundy. Drank w K and A at the house. I loved this wine. Vanilla and fruit on the nose and very soft edges. Not a long finish tho- very short, but not harsh. Young wine but great. Interesting comp to the 1998 Ornellaia, which was very spicy.
