That dark 2020 color in effect. Nose is deep and dark. Black plum, black cherry, dark flowers, maybe violets and serious depth. Huge fruit but also some spice but overall it smells like it looks: saturated and dark. But so pure and so fresh. A stunning nose that leans into 2020. The palate is glorious. Ripe, chewy, dense, dark, but with lift and finesse and enormous concentration. Big tannins but ripe and they get in your cheeks and gums. My goodness the fruit on this is super hedonistic. I adore it. This needs hours of air and possibly days. It will get it. The purity of the fruit and the saturation here is just unreal. This will unfurl.

In a dinner party, so truncated notes. Magnificent but very primary. Lovely concentration of fruit and a luscious texture.

Oct 20th, 2018Glorious nose. Singing. Huge cherry fruit. Such spice and complexity. Big limestone footprint. Huge huge perfume. Amazing nose. It gets more detailed with air. All types of flowers, almost a pastille aroma. Amazing. You smell the fresh potting wet soil as well and it is so vivid and distinct. Palate is loaded with sweet fruit and very muscular. It is so explosive and dense get perfectly ethereal in its hugeness like only Grand Cru Pinot can do. The piercing quality of the ridiculously intense sweet fruit combined with the sweetness (yes more sweetness) and freshness is just remarkable. Amazing texture and length. This is Grand Cru in ever way shape or form. Remarkable value here. Stunning purity and length. Lovely licorice lines the finish. Incredible balance and so decadent. Big tannins but thoroughly ripe and gives such an uncanny sense of place and is a very fine example of this vaunted Grand Cru.

Elegant, refined, refined. Classical and giving. The cherries and black dirt, the glassful of violets. Coats the mouth from front to back and holds on, smooth.
