The 2014 vintage of Tessier’s Pinot/Gamay blend was spectacular. It had fruit and spice and lots of personality. 2015 has a different and fairly muted profile with crushed raspberries, earth, iodine, and permanent marker. It is medium bodied with high acid, tepid flavors of raspberry and salted minerals. It noticeably lacks some fruit concentration and though there are some nice earthy notes, its needs more umph. It’s a wine from a great producer in an off year. Hang onto it for a while to see if it opens or wait for the 2016’s (which are also questionable because of the hail storms).

Sep 16th, 2018Very nice but I prefer his ~$15 basic Cheverny. However, Gloria says I am most definitely wrong about that 😬
