Nouvelère Crozes-Hermitage Syrah

Pleasurable Crozes-Hermitage from the northern Rhône valley. This is the appellation that sits in the valley outside of the hills of Hermitage. 100% Syrah, complex, rustic, and fruity. This wine was made for the long haul as far as cellarability. Pretty young at this point. Blueberry, leather, herbaceous, with a hint of cherry and slate. This evolves nicely in the glass. Drink or hold.

Solid Crozes. Lots of dusty, sandstoney gravel informing the ripe blackberry fruit. A little bit of the raw lamb and black pepper thing too. Rich and mouthfilling. Palate is a bit simpler than the nose, but a nice weekday dinner wine.

Domaine de Thalabert old vines.

Takes some air to open up. Nose is very minerally, irony, with deep raw meat notes, but deep berry fruit and cracked pepper peeking through. Tannic and intensely stony in the mouth. Lots of good elements, but feels like it needs to come together and could use a little more energy. Will revisit tomorrow.

Nothing wrong but nothin singing either. Seemed to lack both verve (acid) and a bit of structure I was hoping for.

Deep black fruit, ink, beef jerky, and a hint of smoke. Medium weight goodness at a bargain for Northern Rhone

An entire orchard of cherries in the nose here. Subtly mineral with lively acidity and a fresh rather than ripe mouthfeel/flavor impression.

Deeep purple color.
Aromas of blueberry Danish, buttered brioche, baked blackberry, vanilla.
Dry. Flavors of cassis, blackberry jam, peppercorn, thyme, black tea. Rich, chewy tannins. Beautiful!

Do you not drink a lot of Croze hermitage. that being said -it drank wonderfully for a 13 year old. fruits and tannins still doing their job
