Domaine Philippe & Vincent Jaboulet
Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
In the pocket right now. Dark fruit, game, and a savory edge of violets, black olive, and coffee grounds. Lovely wine. Enthralling from nose to finish. My last bottle unfortunately.

Deep ruby. Pronounced aromas of black fruit. Blackberries blueberries and black cherries. Tertiary aromas of smoked meat, savory. Medium(+) finish #crozes #crozeshermitage #syrah One of the best Syrah I’ve had all year.

Dec 25th, 2020Great wine. Great vintage. Classic Northern Rhône as smoked meat and violets immediately leap out of the glass. Will certainly improve for another 5-7 but it’s so tasty right now.

Feb 29th, 2020Cellar time has done it well, though still needed some air to soften the tannins. A bit of game on the nose, light in body for a C-H.

Dec 26th, 2018Lovely. Pretty textbook. Violets, black pepper, not gamey but had a slight wild/bramble quality. Ripe tannin.

Mar 12th, 2018Well balanced with great concentration and finish. Fine grained dusty tannins. Earthiness, blackberry, eucalyptus, black cherry and a meatiness reminiscent of peppered pork. 100% Syrah.

Nose: sound, med+ intensity, vinous, black cherry, blueberries and ripe black current. White pepper and violets on the nose with some slate and caramelized ham.....just the caramelized part, barn/turned soil earth with a touch of tar. Cedar and smoke linger. Palate: dry, med body, ripe blackberry with dried currents and blueberries, black pepper, white flowers and meat on the palate. That ham flavor comes through with smokey cedar oak with hints of caramel. Makes me wish i was in the woods in a cabin. Med+ tannins, med- alcohol(12.5%), med acid, med finish with med+ complexity. Cheaper wine with a lot to offer.
