Nuits St. Georges Les Poisets

Just a regular Thursday wine night...

Pale ruby, medium viscosity and intensity. Ripe red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, red plum, French new oak, stems or brown herbs - whole cluster, potpourri, red rose, terra cotta. Fruits went tart on palate, dry, medium body, high acid, medium minus tannins, medium+ alcohol, long finish.

This was my pairing with Boeuf Bourguignon, which took about 6 hours! The dish turned out well, but the wine was on the syrupy sweet side. Still good. Happy St. Nicolas Day!

Follow up: Just like the dish, this improved on day two. Still a bit sweet, but more subtle.

Ate with duck confit, duck fat potatoes and leeks. Could get the aromas but taste fell kind of flat as acidity did’t seem strong enough to match up to the fatty food. Light and easy going wine otherwise, was a crowd pleaser for my guests.

Raspberry and earthy aromas. Red fruit with mushrooms and tobacco notes. Perfect with pizza. Very good!

2013. Beautiful. Not oozing complexity but otherwise just as Pinot should be. Elegant, performed strawberry and red cherry. €18 direct from producer, couldn't ask for more.
