Serres Assyrtiko

Fondue night chez Corison Martin. Nice. Mineral. Full body.

R- pale greenish gold
N- fresh canteloupe, pineapple, citrus rinds, pomelo, wax candies, lightly floral, white flowers
B- tangy citrus, crisp acidity, small underripe wild apple, fresh and delicious. Good value, tasty and food friendly.

Very golden color. Fresh hay, nutty, pear and apricot, a nice minerality, sense of sunshine, a bit dry in palate, interesting, to be sure, but do I actually enjoy it? It is interesting.

Super stuff

Lovely oily texture, saline minerals. Excellent.

Great bang for your buck Assyrtiko, which are becoming super expensive in the US. Pale yellow. Lots of apple. Some lime. Great minerality. Differs in that it doesn’t pack that more typical crisp citrusy punch.

What a value! While it’s not like the most profound Santorini assyrtikos, it’s reasonably close and way better than the mediocre Santorini versions.

Paired perfectly with char grilled octopus, Gigante beans, and marinated cucumbers
