Just a brilliant wine from Michel Magnien, this 1er cru has retained an impressive amount of primary fruit after more than a decade. Almost CA-esque in its aromatics (no doubt related to the heat in 2003), the wine still retians an undercurrent of earthiness that allows it to evolve as it sits in the glass. Terrific balance across the mid-palate with layers of red fruits coupled with hints of morel and pine intermixed. Elegant in its evolution, the wine has an utterly seamless finish. Probably has many more years of evolution agead of it, but it’s drinking perfectly now.
