A small holding of ancient vines within old stone walls and near Faiveley’s Clos des Cortons. Reasonably light for a Grand Cru. A light to medium weight palate but with Medium + intensity. Spice, Plum and earthy notes. I disagree with Burghound’s assessment of being a big wine. I found it to be light. It did have silky tannins but overall somewhat disappointing. Certainly from a prestigious producer. I have had better experiences with Faiveley’s Clos des Cortons (see notes on Delectable).

The first of 3 red Grand Crus from Corton tasted blind. Delectable - this is the Corton Clos Rognet from Meo Camuzet. Bright Ruby in colour. Aromas of earth and cherries - vibrant and pure. Palate staining intensity. Excellent.

Hosted Jean-Nicolas Meo at 1921 tonight. This Corton was in a very good spot.

Last of this bracket of Grand Cru Red Burgundies from Corton and the biggest. Oak coming through on the nose. Palate had a Cherry skin character. All of these need to be cellared and will be better in 10 years.

Vintage 2005. Should come with a seat belt and air bag - massive wine and full throttle. Oak still a bit present for me, but not overwhelming. This can lay down for another 10 years before it's ready and last a generation. Exceptional!
