Domaine Martin Schaetzel
Kirrenbourg Riesling Roche Granitique
(I am not sure why Delectable insists that this Domaine Martin Schaetzel when there is no indication of that domaine’s involvement on either the front or back labels. Maybe there’s a relationship there, but certainly the bottle doesn’t say.)
Anyway . . . This is a terrific dry Riesling. Nose is still super-fresh after 5 years. Stones plucked from a cool stream, crisp apple, a bit of citrus (lemon/lime but more lemon). Mouthfilling and concentrated but crisp and lively at the same time. Intense minerality balanced by apple fruit. Barest hint of bitterness in the finish. Very nice acids.

Subtle nose with a lot going on. Ripe apple, a little nectarine, a bit of mineral stank, clover and meadow vegetation scents. Dry style, with forceful up-front fruit and vigorous acids, lots of crushed rock joining the fruit in the long finish. Great value.
