This is a fantastic demonstration of Chateauneuf du Pape and its ability to balance complexity and approachability. There is a terrific lushness and power to the fruit character but also an elegance and finesse to the lingering spice notes. Leafy, herbaceous qualities on the nose accent the juicy cherry tomato acidity that forms the mouthfeel. The finish is long and elegant despite the power. This wine is impossible to not enjoy.

Elegance and complexity has replaced the old school power and complexity of the young wine. Thank you bottle age!

Hmm. Cherry. Earth, dirt. Mushroom? Peppery as hell on the finish. I’d say cough syrup notes?? I love CdP, can’t say this is my fav. Was interesting to try. Did get better as it opened, but I’ll stick to others. SommS
