Clos de la Chapelle Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Just kept developing layers, it was a treat

Went through a few dumb phases prior to showing up. Be patient. Still not by any means great (or even really good) burg, but you can find a few things to like after it pisses you off several times while it's trying to find its fruit: mushrooms, earthy, dark, etc

Bright cherry nose, hints of strawberry, leather as well. This wine dances on the palate. Silky mouthfeel with wonderful lingering notes from the nose. Beautiful balance. Minor nuances of va and Brett, but can look past with this Pinot experience.

Beautiful, elegant wine...cherries, saddle leather, smoke and toast on the nose, raspberry, fig and plum on the palate

Deep, heady, dizzying nose of strawberry compote, cherry liquer, sandalwood, maybe some eucalyptus, and other exotic woods.
palate also brings damp earth, light rose , and a slight sanguine note. More muscular Than I would have expected out of a volnay. But at the same time precise and fresh with energizing acidity creating a nervy tension. Sensational

I should mention that it needed considerable time. Started off very floral and strawberry but somewhat one dimensional. Several hours later was a different wine

Stellar

Woody. Needs two years.

Light, lively acidity and minerality. Tea and sour cherry.

Burnt red color. Earthy nose.

Well I am not sure on this one. Need to try it again.
