Domaine Le Soula
Vin de Pays des Côtes Catalanes Grenache Blend
Been waiting for years to get back to London and bring this home as it’s only available at Berry Bros. & Rudd as far as I know. Remarkable mineral and acidic cut for a southern French white, like a Loire chenin but with a bit more heft and roundness. Green mango, bitter grapefruit, honey, pear, smoke and spice on the finish. Worth checking a bag for!

Jun 22nd, 2022Weighty, meaty, smoky, mineral nose with underripe pineapple skin and green mango, burnt golden syrup, grilled pineapple & plantain or sugar cain.
Palate has a real bottom heavy weight, this is wine with a lot of mineral intensity and stoney depth along aniseed infused Asian pear, stony mineral finish, long with great depth

19/12/14 at 3 St James' St., from magnum. Developed and individual. Bees wax, hydromel, quince combine with some nuttiness. Open and deep flavours. Dry, mineral. Good tension. medium bodied. Spicy and citric finish. Very good and interesting wine. Macabeu (nose) and Chenin Blanc (palate) dominate, the later reminding me the character and complexity I experienced with one bottle of Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu 1995 from Dom. Gaston Huet.
