Vieilles Vignes Meursault Chardonnay

So killer. Needed something bombastic yet focused tonight. This did the trick. Gorgeous nose of butter, minerals, sweet wood, and wafting wet earth. Classic. Palate is rich with great amplitude and killer acids and just outrageous length. The length pushes this to 9.5. The terrific purity here allied with the length is pretty thrilling. It just grips your back palate and does not leave.

What a nose, airy and deep. Buttery and classic, nutty and just the most classic meursault profile ever. Elegant and dense, almost thick and treacly. Long, rounder than the Meurgers. Super long and insane acids like all the 22’s here. Wow the aromas inner mouth

Another bomb vintage of this wine. Nose has butter, discreet oak, Meyer lemon, baked apple, pear and huge minerals. Such lift. Palate is rich, buttery and insanely fresh. Wow this is just a stunning drop of Meursault. Lovely wet earth now peeks through on the nose. Palate is just teeming with energy and it’s so pure. Great acids and freshness and so so long. So classic and 19 gives it that extra oomph.

Awesome. Nose of butter, salt, minerals, lime zest, tree bark and has so much depth. Palate has terrific depth and richness. Medium bodied, dense and so fresh with awesome juiciness. So clean. So sleek: so good. Long finish: just terrific.

On the leaner, more minerally side of the Meursault spectrum. Nose has a nice amalgam of light toast, butter, lemon-lime drizzled earthy, stony scents, and barely ripe pear. Intense and uncompromising in the mouth. There’s some fruit, but it’s more stony minerals and lemon oil, with smoky straw at the close. Will age a few more years for sure.

What a nose. Meursault symphony. Amazingly deep mineralIty. So much limestone. Lime blossom. Butter, toasted apples, iodine, floral, wet earth, super complex and inviting aromas. Reeks of terroir. Palate is ripe and rich but incredibly elegant and wow this has superb finesse and freshness. Lovely almost weightless mouthfeel. Elegant to the max. Easily 1er Cru quality. Long and persistent finish. Nice sap and grip on the finish. Awesome lingering minerality. Beautiful. Love the marriage of opulence and cut. Superb. This is opening up so well. Wow.

Classic Meursault. Rich, buttery and rocky nose. Lemon pith. Mineral. So clean. But very Meursault. Palate is rich and ripe with terrific lemony depth and lovely sap and palate presence. Very pure. Clean. Persistent. Butter richness but cut with insane minerals. Terrific wine. Serious sappy and dense structure. Racy yet ample. Has 15 years ahead of it.

Big, rich and buttery nose with lovely minerality. So decadent. So Meursault. Hint of iodine and nuttiness as well. Palate is super fresh and rich with terrific acidity, nerve and freshness. Amazingly clean with great mix of fat and freshness.

Some of these 15 white Burgs are drinking awfully good now. Lovely nose. Hit of Meursault butter and a big hit of minerals. Palate has terrific tension and richness but also really impactful minerality. Great freshness from the intense minerality. Vibrant and wonderfully pure. Dazzling showing. Great wine. Long finish. Explosive.

Yellow fruited — gooseberry, some peach — quinine, suggestion of Lillet and a good measure of oak. Light but vibrant. Good finish. Nice and savory, though fruit is secondary
