Vacqueyras Red Rhône Blend

This is a good wine. It is well integrated and the alcohol is restrained comparatively, while still showing power. Nice black fruit notes with some vegetal undertones. Even though I like drinking Grenache young, I am thinking it will probably age for a good amount of time.

Bought on release and stored at 55 degrees in my cellar since. Old world style, spicy, earthy and true to its name …garrique! Could have easily passed for a well made CNDP. WOW 20 year old Vacqueyras who would have guessed.

Enjoyed this wine with beef Wellington on Christmas. Held up to the hearty flavors in the dinner. Would love to have again.

Strong varnish and leather nose. Great tannin structure and blackberry.

Tasty Grenache. Silky smooth red fruit.

paired well with dinner at the plimoth in denver. menu: cauliflower turnip gratinee, oxford garden’s arugula salad, and seared sea scallops. medium bodied, well balanced.

Deep purple color. Very tannic on the nose. Good balance between of fruit and tannins. Nice somewhat full/plush mouth feel.

Nice wine, good fruit but can benefit from some bottle age.

Not really characteristic of a Vacqueyras for me. On the nose, dusty cherries and older oak. In the mouth, higher toned red fruit and some tannins. Slightly hollow mid-palate. Medium-Short finish. Price was higher than quality tonight.
