Cuvée Maurin Cahors Malbec

Good juice.

Red cherries, floral, baked blackberries and black currant leaf nose; fleshy palate, green notes, well structured and savoury/mineral notes on the finish

Missing the usual fruit of a Malbec -- even a Cahors. Seemed a bit "hot" too me -- and burnt fruit overtones.

Completing my weekend Cahors trifecta, this wine is the wildest of the bunch. Deep and inky with some sediment. Very tight upon opening and doesn't seem to loosen up. The fruit is in there, though pinned down by big oak influence. This must want some more cellar time.

Unexpectedly good—perfumy, sweet herbs, lots of dark fruit—plums, cassis. Still young on the palate with tons of tannin.

This wine, a beautiful dark garnet with sediments, is extremely good. Just about as good as my belated picture of it is bad, in point of fact. Will go hunt down another bottle (or two!) soon.

One of those untamable ones. Vigourous attack even after resting a bit in the glass...

Less fruit than an Argentinian Malbec. Strong tannins even after 5 years. Very good with steak!

Nose of blackberry, some smokey and leathery flavors, balanced tannins with acidity. Some violets, good oak notes. Great earthy Malbec overall.
