Domaine Jean-Louis Chave
Hermitage Blanc Marsanne Roussanne

Lovely intense lemon oil and syrupy oily midpalate. White flowers and a soft acidity. Great persistence and length. Tangy

Well, this was a serious pleasure. My first white hermitage (and only 3rd Chave?). We wondered whether we were opening it too young, and I'll never know, but this gave a lot. Bigger than most reds without feeling unbalanced, with a beautiful spice profile that emerged after 90 minutes, and showing its oak in a decadent, Burgundian way, this was a star amongst Raveneau and 78 Barolo. With thanks to Ed Zimmerman!
