Les Vergelesses Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Blackberry, floral, black cherry, so deep and almost Syrah like nose. Syrah/Pinot hybrid. Elegant, sappy and pure. Classic Girard balance. Smooth even though I hate this word. So fresh with ripe tannins but provide terrific structure and depth.

Terrific nose of wet earth and dark cherries. Very expressive. Lovely nose. Got this it a good moment. Palate is elegant and complex with terrific fruit clarity. Great concentration and persistence. Shows the low yield character of 16. So fresh and huge acidity. Needs air. But wow Girard is so consistent. After air loads of mulberry and woodland berry.

Just an awesome nose. Stunning purity. Cherries galore. Mid to late season and it’s got a lipstick like intensity. Just gorgeous. What clarity. Girard killed 2019. The fruit is so deep and Girard is a fruit master. Unreal spice and beautiful subtle earthiness. Terrific palate. Fleshy and so pure. Sappy and sweet. But also a wonderful sweet/sour edge. Amazingly purity. This is so nimble and elegant. Nose gets more complex by the minute. The sous bois is cranking. So elegant. Velvety sweet tannins of very high quality. Unreal purity and depth. This is stunning. So close to a 9.5.

Gorgeous, wafting nose. A why we drink Pinot type of nose. Stunning, deep red and black cherries. Hit of rocky minerals and some wet earth frame the cherries. Such a clean and elegant nose. Such clean and clear minerality. 17 is so classic. Palate is supple, lean and spicey with slate like tannins initially and sweet cherry fruit on the finish that stays with you. Lovely persistence. Terrific sour cherry as well that sweetens up as it finishes. Really terrific freshness and lift. Needs maybe 45 minutes for the fruit to really express itself. Compact and quite structured with really great energy.

Massive hugely fruited nose. Dirt, Sous bois and minerals in the background. Massive mid season cherries. Some nice spice. Very clean and pure. Palate is juicy, ripe and has appealing dark red cherry and black cherry fruit. Lipsmacking acidity and freshness. One of the more brooding Les Vergelesses I’ve had. Really sappy but seems closed on the back end. Lovely length and persistence. Great texture and compactness. Massive fruit. More to come.

Nose is singing. Gorgeous nose. Bright mid season cherries, sous bois, tea, even some marijuana, sour cherries, cranberry and such purity, minerality and depth. Such a soaring nose. Palate is gorgeous and deep with sappy sour cherries, a hit of opulence and good concentration but not overly concentrated. Sappy and so pure. Balance is out of this world. Incredible energy and so so engaging. Lovey mid palate that caresses but also prickles as well with buoyant acidity. Awesome inner mouth aromas that saturate the palate with fruit. Lovely velvety and gorgeously integrated tannins. This is drinking so well now but will surely age. Such a well made wine. Elegance, serious terroir and depth at this pricepoint is what Pernand 1er Crus do best.

What a nose. Wide open. Big cherry. Mint, menthol, some black cherry inflections and even cherry flower. Wow. Moss. Soil tones. Very very high toned nose. Impressive. Jumps out of glass at you. Red apple as well. Just awesome. Palate is ripe and rich with lovely finesse and huge cherry overload. Lovely freshness and purity with a nice helping of diet. Lovely texture and tang with terrific, finesse, energy and balance. Love this. Lithe and very fine tannins with lovely earthy sweetness. What a mouthfeel. Love the hint of bitter, succulent sour cherry on the finish.

This is very tight and intense. Nose has loads of tiny bursty intense little cherries and pomegranate, along with intense chalky limestone minerality that almost verges into mint. As it airs, a deeper sous-bois note emerges. Intense and uncompromisingly lean, but with great concentration and length. The minerality really steals the show in the mouth. Lots of youthful but fine grained tannin. This will be much better in the coming years.

Lovely nose. Red fruited, floral, big, some earthy stank, palate has sweet earthy red fruits, wonderful balance and purity and so much freshness. Terrific compact quality. Great complexity and an ethereal mid palate. Great Pernand.
