Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard
Les Rouvrettes 1er Cru Savigny-lès-Beaune Pinot Noir
Girard’s 19’s are a triumph. Best since 14 and 12. Complex florals, spice, ripe mid season cherries that are just bursting. So vibrant and lifted. Palate is bright and juicy with rich cherry fruit and terrific concentration and intensity. Very fresh but also matched by luxurious fruit that is perfectly ripe and just perfect. A great wine and vintage. Elegant with sweet tannin and lovely balance and texture. Remarkable value as well.

Nov 17th, 2022Nose is lovely. Dusty red cherries, licorice and cherry flower as well. Lovely earth and wet stones. Cooling black cherries as well with some air. Juicy and concentrated with awesome purity and freshness. So balanced with lovely elegance. Long finish and great sap. Some bramble as well on the nose after some air. Terrific intensity. Really showing well.

Sep 16th, 2020I adore this vintage. I adore this vineyard. I adore Girard. I also adore using the word adore. Stunning clarity to the nose. Mint, mineral, sour cherries, ethereal aromas that are ultra focused. Palate is super juicy and has that Girard drinkability. So pure. So fresh. Energetic with lithe tannins and lovely purity. Just a laser of a Savigny. Gorgeous wine. If you love Burgundy and ignore Savigny you don’t love Burgundy.

Jul 23rd, 2020Showing the opposite of its PV sister wine. Open and ready to go, sexy, plush red fruits perfume the nose. The acidity keeps,it all in check and dazzles on the finish. Classic SLB, not a surprise this village was one I fell in love with early on in my first forays with Burgundy.

A terrific food wine. Great acidity and minerality. Pleasant hint of bitterness. Nice bright finish. Bright cherry fruit. No noticeable oak.
