Situated just above Clos St Denis and adjacent to Clos de la Roche, Les Chaffots is one of my favorite 1er crus in Morey-St-Denis. The '09 was tight when I first bought it but showing beautifully tonight.

Cranberry, orange peel, exotic spices. A real sense of place with this Burgundy. I suspect it will be even better in 3 or 4 more years.

Deep, complex and classy, with lovely focus and a fair bit tannin. The glass in a blaze of black cherries, plums, and a touch of coffee bean and a whisper of vanillin oak.
