Compelling Grenache-dominated Rhône blend. Compact and powerful but layered with blue and bright red fruit, smoke and peppery spice. Will benefit from aging but wow so nice.

What an amazing bouquet on the 2015 Gourt de Mautens, @jebdunnuck seriously called it here. This Rhone blend was seductive from the onset, showing a mix of ripe blackberry, black raspberry, crushed violet candies, lavender, stone dust and a hint of animal muskiness. On the palate, textures like liquid silk wrapped around the senses as a display of remarkably fresh yet saturating red and black berry fruit seemed to hover, dispersing violet florals, licorice, minerals and hints of grippy herbal tea-like tannin across all that they touched. Balanced to the core, with brisk acidity making light of the wines amazing textural depth and resulting in a finish that was both impossibly long, amazing fresh, yet structured all the same. I can still taste the purple inner floral and dark fruit tones, having lost track of how long the finish has been going. It’s hard to fault the 2015 Gourt de Mautens for anything, and incredibly easy to become lost in it. #rhone #gourtdemautens #rasteau

Very tight when popped and poured, this really opened up beautifully with time in the decanter. Great stuff. Perhaps not quite as concentrated as the 10, but a bit more broad and elegant. Just lovely...

It’s not often that I open a note with a resolute, Wow, but the 2013 Gourt de Mautens deserves such praise. The bouquet opened with an intense display of white pepper, crush mint (or is that basil), rosemary, moist earth and hints of sweet brown spice. On the palate, it was impossibly soft and enveloping to all of the senses, yet vibrant with a display crushed violets, black fruit, and savory olive. Tannins mounted toward the finish as the wine resonated on peppery spices and a resounding note of black olive. I can't wait to see where this wine is going over time.

Delightful with venison. Black licorice overtones with great finish.

Robe noire
Nez puissant sur les fruits noirs les épices la terre humide
Bouche superbement équilibrée puissante mais soyeuse avec juste ce qu il faut de tanins pour tenir et définir le vin
Superbe et encore très jeune
