Rasteau Red Rhone Blend 2001

Austere at first, thought maybe the fruit was gone but just needed an hour of air. Consider drinking soonish though. Tastes like lots of Grenache and lots of whole clusters. Leads with leather, animal, dried herbs, coffee grounds and eventually dark red cherries in syrup and cinnamon red hots enter the mix. Clearly from warmer southerly / mediterranean climes but there is still a sense of freshness and acidity here — 2 months ago

Rosé Côtes du Rhône Grenache Blend

Kevin Sidders
9.2

Probably the most interesting rose I've ever had. Copper color. Hard to place the fruit -- dried cherries? Incredible mineral profile, and very long on the palate. Best analogy is like a world-class rose Champagne vin clair. Not quaffable at all (which one generally wants in rose), but complex and requiring contemplation — 4 years ago

Vaucluse Red Rhone Blend 2015

Phenomenal wine from Vaucluse’s best winemaker. Half Grenache blended with a potpourri of other Southern Rhone varietals. Reminiscent of Beaucastel, but more powerful. Big, bold wine that dances on the tongue and evolves over the course of the evening. Highly concentrated and complex with layer upon layer of kirsch, blackberry, garrigue, spice, and white stone. On the palate, you can even detect some hints of dark chocolate. The wine is extremely good now, but I’d suggest cellaring for a decade to bring out all the layers. 2015 vintage on Oct 13, 2019 — 10 months ago
