Mon Ami! Roussane

Lovely nose. Hay, richness, gras, lemon butter, rich tropical fruits, white flowers, citrus oil, insanely complex. Lanolin, mint, brilliant. Palate is ripe and rich with brilliant structure and fruit complexity. Very pure and deep. Balance. Freshness from the flowers, minerals and fruit and less than from the acid. Wonderful.

Wow. So ripe compared to the 14 aromatically. Apricot and peaches along with hay and alpine goodness that makes Roussanne from Chignin so special. Palate is ripe and generous with lovely fruit and an explosiveness to it that is so good. Juicy and nice acids, but not like those 14 acids and terrific vivid minerals on the the finish, which is longer than one thinks. Startling entry level here. It gets much better after 1 hour.

In COld years these wines are geek heaven. In warm years ... well in warm years they compete with the best whites. Thuan is a bit closer for an hour and then hoooooooly crap. Rich intense concentrated. Yet balanced acidic and mineral. Mind bending on the palate. I can't believe that this is mountain wine. How on earth did he make this ? Tastes like a feminine hermitage blanc made by a god. Bought from fass selections.
