I love the versatility of Syrah. From bright and abrasive, to deep and inky, this varietal makes me happy. This bottle is serving all of the acidic brightness of a delicious old-world, with the darker, earthier flavors I love so much. People say bacon and tobacco, I say pork belly and seared red meat. Sour red berries, like Bing Cherry and Raspberry, are still arguing with the drier notes in this wine; another 3-4 years in the bottle would resolve this feud nicely, I'm sure.
