The first of a bracket of 7 Grand Cru Whites from the 2016 vintage last Saturday. We knew the lineup but not the order they are served in. My notes - Quite exotic ripe notes for a Chablis (as it turned out) - honeyed peach. Great intensity on the nose - loved the nose. A few of the tasters marked it down for what they saw as botrytis. I thought it added interest. Possibly my favourite wine of the bracket.

Really bright and vivid, almost tropical at times, fruit. Un Raveneau-like but not unpleasant. Great definition and clarity with crystalline structure, minerality and real definition on the finish. Very good stuff. Probably at it too young. Atypical but classy.

Medium straw gold. Viscous and heavy. Awesome aged Raveneau nose from the start. Notes of honeyed tan spice, seashells, wet stone, apricot and some light tan dusty clay. Rich in the mouth. Acidity is in the background, even after 4 hours of air. A bit thin in the mid palate but I’m splitting hairs to find flaws. Great stuff.

Yellow to medium gold. Nice weight. Citrus nose with notes of apricot, some white stone and cut apples, and a little sea shell. Lots of fruit with modest acidity at the start, but then in hour 4 this powers up and gives the Raveneau richness, mouth feel and complexity.

A beautiful lucid nose. Really dynamic and enticing. Oyster shells, limpid lemon and bright drive. Wonderfully balanced in the palate. Intense but light with a long and complex finish. Amazing stuff

A subtle and subdued nose with gentle lemon and a smooth minerality. Quite contained but broad and sweet edges. Long

Close to perfection . Minerality, vanilla, crushed oystershells, multi-layered.
