A Givry Blanc? Bien Sûr! While Givry is certainly known for its reds, there are some producers working with Chardonnay and François Lumpp is one of its flag-bearers. The vineyard for “Clos des Vignes Rondes” is tiny, about an acre is all there is. These whites are fermented and aged in oak (about one-third new) so they tend to be on the richer side. Popped and poured; no formal notes. The wine pours a light gold color and displays ripe tropical fruit, lemon, apple and minerals. The wine is dry and has good acid. The texture is creamy and there is a sort of minerally, buttery finish. I thought this worked really well with the swordfish course. Drink now and over the next 5 years.

Bit worried at first with the deep golden yellow color and a whiff of over oxidation but it quickly blew over and turned into that complex earthy dense textured aged white Burg.

Bit of a snoozer: vanilla, oak, hint of cinnamon. Tastefully done. But no guts. Yawn.

Nice golden color. Balanced and nice finish. Similar taste profile as'04 but less oxidized. Time to drink up!

Golden color, nose of some oxidation with hints of chestnuts. Nice balance and still acids to go well with food. Medium finish, chestnut still there. Interesting wine, maybe past prime? Will try others.

This needed to wait, I know!!!
But what a wine...
It's hard to describe: wax, honey, white flowers and some type of minty but discreet finish!
Oh yeah this is a Chardonnay
