Jun 18th, 2022More complex and ageworthy than everyday Sancerre. Flinty minerality, mushroom, green apple. Nothing better with oysters!

Mar 20th, 2022An idiosyncratic, intriguing wine that is about as far from standard Sancerre as you'll get, and for that, Cotat will be relieved. The 2019 Sancerre Culs de Beaujeu has great concentration, and the gentle handling translates into delicacy of fruit. However, it’s far from a fruity wine; you'll find floral notes, an iodine-like character and nutty nuances (old barrels, including large formats, are preferred). It retains a sense of freshness and an almost briny essence on the long finish. (Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, August 2021)

Cloudy, wet cement on a hot day (and that’s good). Melons. Squash.

Jun 25th, 2020Surprised how this steep/rocky site can produce such a beautifully delicate wine. Nuanced yet offering considerable depth and complexity. Meyer lemon, lime curd, honeydew, kiwi, gooseberry, meringue brûlée, lemon balm, chervil, tarragon, wet and crumbled limestone, pink sea salt.

May 11th, 2020Vintage 2009 / Sunday lunch in the garden. I love September with these sunny days. Opened the bottle yesterday, floral tones in smell. A bit buxus. And a peculiar - not typical for sauvignon - honey impression. Today the wine opened up: beautiful jasmin smell, buttery. Vibrant acidity and surprisingly powerful. The floral smell remains. And a fine bitter in aftertaste. This bottle is among the finest Loire has to offer. / Paired with warm Liege Salad (salade Liégeoise, pommes de terre, haricots verts, bacon, vinaigrette).

Sep 15th, 2019Honey, ginger, lemon curd, fresh grass, lifted nose of white flowers - chamomile, white peach, and stony minerality. Dry with perceptible RS. Medium minus alcohol, great acidity, and a long finish.
