Love this site. So finesse driven. An essence of Volnay type of site. Big, ripe and sappy red and black cherries that are so forward and so vivid. Stunning depth and freshness. Gorgeous earth and minerals. So nimble and pure. Red licorice. Love the controlled ripeness. Yes it’s ripe but yes it’s within the realm of being reasonably ripe and attractive. Palate is joyous. Nimble and elegant and shockingly pure and so ethereal. Sappy and sweet and so silky. Volnay defined. Lithe and elegant tannins and I swear this is the silkiest 2020 I’ve had yet. The purity of this is off the charts. I’m gobsmacked how great this is. I know this will go higher with air. Weightless wine with wonderful intensity. What a duo the 19 and 20. Now the nose has pumpkin spice and other spices. Spicecake vibe for sure.

Jul 28th, 2022Wow. This smoked in 17 and I knew it was going to smoke in 19 for this little known gem of a 1er Cru. Haunting nose of sweet mid season cherry fruit, sous bois, wet earth, desiccated leaves, flowers (violets?), citrus zest and so many other nuances. Just a zany great nose. It’s screaming “I am Volnay” in my nose. Yes my nose. Palate is OMG heaven. Silken, sweet and seductive. Awesome mid season cherry fruit and perfect balance. Haunting finesse and a sphere like roundness and then such freshness that keeps it alive and dancing on your tongue. Such lacey, sweet and delicate tannins. Truly special. Unreal purity. 2019 is the real deal. This is liquid cashmere. It is so finely knit. Will be back in an hour as it opens up. 9.5 for now.

Jul 22nd, 2021Stunning ephemeral wet earth, sweet high toned cherry confectionary fruit, tangy ripe cranberry, spice, fruit spice, so so intense and energetic and straight. Earthy and mineral. Hauntingly gorgeous and beautiful nose. Huge spice cake, ethereal sweet fruit, so delicate and so sweet, and just unreal lightness matched with intensity. So fresh, so energetic and just incredible driving sweetness and juiciness. Ripe and engaging tannins and such sap, balance and purity. Sweet red and black cherry fruit. Long, so nimble, so juicy, so sweet. So ripe, so lithe, ripe and juicy. Terrific.

May 10th, 2020Awesome nose. Wide open. Bright mid season cherries, licorice, spice, floral, sweet cherry, the palate is like velvet, sweet fruit, limestone, licorice, floral, fruit is pillow like, gentle yet sweet. This is insane. It’s so ethereal and sweet.

So good I could drink a case. I’d die. But it would almost be worth it.
At 40 minutes getting some depth. You will be tempted to guzzle this in the first 20 minutes. It’s that good. But that is the temptation of SATAN and you should resist it. Wait for an hour at least.
Finish has some cranberry.
This is crazy in that it’s so good young but the decanting improvement suggests this could be better than delicious and very very good as it ages.
