2005 vintage. Domaine Fourrier, 1er Cru Combe aux Moines. The start of Simon and my trip to Burgundy at Bistro de l'Hotel. The wine is a little closed - needs some air. Nevertheless, wonderful potential. Deep dark berried fruits, sweet spices, leathery and earthy - rich. On the palate, full bodied, medium acidity, high concentration and medium minus soft, silky tannins. Good long finish. Nice complexity and I like the sweet fruit mid-palate. It's not exactly my style, but it's a lovely bottle. NB: with air, licorice and mint to the fore with cranberry sauce notes.
