Cherbaudes Vieille Vigne Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Pinot Noir

Love the vintage for Fourrier. 09 Cherbaudes is in a terrific place, showing substantial richness and power with wild red berry and earthy aromatics and a deep, concentrated palate with a lengthy mineral finish. While I prefer the more elegant and detailed Combe aux Moines in this vintage, Cherbaudes is quite delicious and very showy now.

Proof that a good producer can handle a hot vintage.

Gorgeous aromatics. Still extremely high tone, pure, and linear on palate. Not sure there is enough body, or concentration, to balance acidity over the long run. Fourrier has referred to 2008 as a vintage producing wines reminiscent of wines from the 1970's.

2011's are coming around. A little reductive to start, but really beautiful overall.

2012 - Young, dumb and full of... fruit. Didn't show the energy a lot of '12s in this class have shown me at this early stage. I'm sure this will come along just fine, but a little dissapointing. Could be that this was opened beside Truchot and Verset...

While these wines have great structure I find the 2005 Fourrier to be very tight and needing time.

Really good! Gevrey is still a bit of a conundrum to me. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

Really kicks it up a few notches from the regular village. Really sexy nose. Cellar worthy.
