The Faury Saint Joseph rouge is clearly one of the best Syrah values out there but don’t sleep on the blanc, which also happens to be among the most enjoyable northern Rhône whites I’ve ever had. Forget Condrieu and Hermitage blanc and buy this instead. Actually, forget I said anything

Drank with mahi-mahi from bonefish grill. A little past it’s prime, but very good. Finish is moderate length. Floral.

The Faury wines have a quiet confidence and subdued boldness that I like. My 2012 is alive with good acid and fatty oil for texture. Pale golden with fresh yellow peaches, ripe orange, and starfruit. Bold and gentle.

Burnt marshmallow. This vintage was the first northern Syrah I ever had.

Jan 28th, 2017Plenty of textural richness, but a surprising amount of acidic and mineral cut for a N. Rhone white which is a good thing. Some Condrieu-like floral and pit fruit aromatics present on the palate as well with some melon and browned butter and a touch of background herbaceousness. Great with a wonderful oven roasted chicken--thanks @Steven Perlman! Another great night with the growing family.
